Our senior team brings together only senior communications professionals with decades of experience in corporations, agencies, media and government. We all have academic or professional experience in environmental science, policy or behavior change.

Our commitment to excellence means we never delegate work to junior or low-cost consultants.

We have consultants in 40 countries, who are co-ordinated by our consultants based in the US and Europe.

Peter Browning

CEO & Chairperson

BEC’s founding CEO has 20 years’ experience co-ordinating communications campaigns for governments, the UN, corporations and major NGOs on the agency side. He has led many transformative campaigns on environmental issues including on climate change, clean energy, energy efficient buildings, illegal wildlife trade, plant-based foods, sustainable land use and clean water and sanitation.

Julia Kaltenborn

Director, USA East Coast & CSR

Julia has worked for 15 years in communications and sustainability, starting at British American Tobacco (BAT). She then joined German consultancy Deekeling Arndt Advisors to lead on sustainability, before moving to Air Liquide in corporate communications. Julia speaks English, French and German and has run BEC’s office in NYC since 2019.

Judit Langh

Director, US West Coast

 Judit has 15 years’ experience of corporate communications, branding and the environment at agencies she co-founded – Imaguine and sixtrain. She started out for BEC in 2020. She has developed communications campaigns for the UN scientific bodies on biodiversity and climate change, for corporations like Salesforce and T-Mobile US, and helped to build the Impossible Foods brand over four years through PR.

Mark Grundy

Member of the Board, USA

Mark has 25 years’ experience in communications on environmental issues. He started out at the European Environment Agency before moving to NYC where he became VP of CSR at Edelman. He then worked for 15 years leading communications in the NGO sector: at Richard Branson’s Carbon War Room, the Rocky Mountain Institute, and recently the Coalition for Rainforest Nations.

Moritz Rommerskirchen

Managing Director, EU

Moritz has run BEC’s EU offer from offices on the banks of the Rhine in Bonn since 2013. He comes from a publishing and economics background, and has built great expertise in science and data-based communications on the environment. Prior to BEC, he worked in communications at auto giant DaimlerChrylser in the US and Germany, and agency-side at CNC and Weber Shandwick in London.

Claudia Hammerich

Director, EU

Claudia joined Browning Environmental from SABIC, the world’s second largest chemicals company, where she was Director and Region Head, Corporate & Marketing Communications Europe for four years. Previously she spent six years as Head of Corporate Communications – Europe at Sappi, a NYSE-listed paper and pulp company. Prior to this, she gained consulting experience at CNC-Communications & Network Consulting in Munich and Aspect Consulting in Brussels. A multilingual graduate of Lund University in Sweden, she began her career handling communications at international meetings in the Belgian and then Swedish Ministries of Foreign Affairs.

Jason Weight

Director, Digital

Jason has worked as a social media strategist and creative since 2014, first at the BORN SOCIAL agency and then as a freelancer, including work for organizations such as the UK Green Party. He has been working with Browning Environmental on digital strategy and online campaigns since 2017. Jason is also an award-winning short film director, and graduated with First Class honours from Manchester Metropolitan University.

Tom Buchanan

Operations Director

Tom Buchanan supports on global media relations, messaging, strategy and events at Browning Environmental. He has worked with clients form a variety of sectors in almost every continent, these include some of the world’s leading NGOs, multinational technology and healthcare businesses, politicians, businesspeople and celebrities. He has nearly ten years of public relations experience and started his career at Bell Pottinger. He graduated from UCL with a degree in Classics.
